Emanuel County, Georgia (Map It) was created on December 10, 1812 from Bulloch County and Montgomery County. Portions of Emanuel County were used to create the following counties: Johnson County (1858), Jenkins County and Toombs County (1905), Candler County (1914), and Treutlen County (1918). Emanuel County was named in honor of Colonel David Emanuel (1744 - 1808), who became the governor of Georgia in 1801.
Emanuel County is bordered by  Jefferson County (north), Jenkins County (northeast), Burke County ( northeast), Candler County (east), Tattnall County (south), Bulloch County (south), Montgomery County (south), Toombs County (south), Laurens County (southwest), Johnson County (west), Treutlen County (west).

- Emanuel County Clerk of Superior Court has Land Records from 1812 and Court Records from 1810. The County Clerk of Superior Court has jurisdiction over cases for title to land and equity, felony cases, adoptions, divorces, child support and custody enforcement. The clerk also is tasked with recording deeds and maintaining the chain of title to all property in the county.
