McNairy County, Tennessee (Map It) was created on October 8, 1823 from Hardin County. This McNairy County was named in honor of John McNairy, judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Tennessee.

McNairy County is bordered by Chester County (north), Hardin County (east), Alcorn County, Mississippi (south) and Hardeman County (west) .
