Hancock County, Georgia Records

Hancock County, Georgia (Map It) was created on December 17, 1793 from Greene County and Washington County. Portion of Hancock County was used to help create Taliaferro County in 1825. Hancock County was named in honor of John Hancock (1737 - 93), President of the Continental Congress and the first signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Hancock County is bordered by  Taliaferro County (north), Warren County ( northeast), Glascock County (east), Washington County (southeast), Baldwin County (southwest), Putnam County (west), Greene County (northwest)
