Greene County, Indiana (Map It) was created on February 5, 1821 from Sullivan County and Unorganized Land. This county was named for Gen. Nathanael Greene, hero of the American Revolutionary War.
Greene County is bordered by  Clay County (north), Owen County (north), Monroe County (east), Lawrence County (southeast), Martin County (south), Daviess County (south), Knox County (southwest), Sullivan County (west).
