Grundy County, Illinois (Map It) was created on February 17, 1841 from La Salle County. Grundy County was named for Felix Grundy (1777–1840), Tennessean senator that served as the thirteenth United States Attorney General.

Grundy County is bordered by  Kendall County (north), Will County (east), Kankakee County (southeast), Livingston County (south), LaSalle County (west)
