St Genevieve County, Missouri (Map It) was created on October 1, 1812 as one of the five original counties. The county was named in honor of St. Genevieve (c. 420 – c. 510), the patron saint of Paris in Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox tradition .
St Genevieve County is bordered by Jefferson County (northwest), Monroe County (northeast), Randolph County, Illinois (east), Perry County (southeast), St. Francois County (southwest).
