Walker County, Alabama (Map It) was created on December 26, 1823 from Blount County, Jefferson County and Tuscaloosa County. Walker county was named in honor of John Williams Walker (1783–1823), U.S. Senator from Alabama.
Walker County is bordered by Winston County (north), Cullman County (northeast), Blount County (east), Jefferson County (southeast), Tuscaloosa County (southwest), Fayette County (west), Marion County (northwest).

The Walker County Courthouse is located in Jasper, Alabama. Fires at the courthouse occurred in 1865, 1877, 1886, and 1932. All court records destroy in the 1877 fire.
