Doddridge County, West Virginia (Map It) was created on February 4, 1845 from portions of Harrison County, Lewis County, Ritchie County and Tyler County . The county was named in honor of Philip Doddridge (1772-1832), U.S. Congressman (VA) and famous statesman who traveled widely throughout the current site of West Virginia.
Doddridge County is bordered by Wetzel County (north), Harrison County (east), Lewis County (southeast), Gilmer County (south), Ritchie County (west), Tyler County (northwest).
