Barbour County, West Virginia (Map It) was created on March 3, 1843 from portions of Harrison County, Lewis County and Randolph County. The county was named in honor of Philip Pendleton Barbour (1783-1841), U.S. Speaker of the House.

Barbour County is bordered by Taylor County (north), Tucker County (east), Randolph County (southeast), Upshur County (southwest), Harrison County (west), Preston County (northeast).
