Brown County, Indiana (Map It) was created on February 4, 1836 from Bartholomew County, Jackson County and Monroe County. This county was named for General Jacob Brown, hero of the War of 1812.
Brown County is bordered by  Johnson County (northeast), Bartholomew County (east), Jackson County (south), Monroe County (west), Morgan County (northwest).
