Wayne County, Georgia Records

Wayne County, Georgia (Map It) was created on May 11, 1803 from Creek Cession of 1802. Portion of Wayne County was used to create Brantley County in 1920. Wayne County was named in honor of General Anthony Wayne (1745 - 96) -- known as "Mad Anthony Wayne". A U.S. Congressman and a hero of the Revolutionary War and the Northwest Indian War.

Wayne County is bordered by  Tattnall County (north), Long County (northeast), McIntosh County (east), Glynn County (southeast), Brantley County (south), Pierce County (southwest), Appling County (northwest).
