Lee County, Georgia Records

Lee County, Georgia (Map It) was created on June 9, 1825 from Creek Cessions of 1826. Portion sof Lee County was used to form Randolph County (1828) , Sumter County (1831), Marion County (1827) and Terrell County (1856) . Lee County was named in honor of General Richard Henry Lee (1732-1794), a hero of the Revolutionary War.

Lee County is bordered by  Sumter County (north), Crisp County (northeast), Worth County (east), Dougherty County (south), Terrell County (west)

Lee County, Georgia Courthouse Records

The Lee County Courthouse is located in Leesburg, Georgia. The County Courthouse was destroyed by fire in 1856 or 1858, all records were destroyed. It again caught fire in 1872 some records were destroyed.

• Lee County Clerk of Superior Court has Land Records from 1858 and Court Records from 1858. The County Clerk of Superior Court has jurisdiction over cases for title to land and equity, felony cases, adoptions, divorces, child support and custody enforcement. The clerk also is tasked with recording deeds and maintaining the chain of title to all property in the county. Be aware that Lands were given to Georgia citizens by lotteries for the years 1820, 1821, 1827, 1832, 1832 (Gold), 1833.
