Benton County, Indiana (Map It) was created on February 18, 1840 from Jasper County. This county was named for Thomas H. Benton, U.S. Senator from Missouri.

Benton County is bordered by  Newton County (north), Jasper County (northeast), White County (east), Tippecanoe County (southeast), Warren County (south), Vermilion County, Illinois (southwest), Iroquois County, Illinois (west).
