Campbell County, Virginia (Map It) was created in December 15, 1781 from Bedford County . Campbell county was named for William Campbell, Revolutionary War general and one of the heroes of the Battle of Kings Mountain in 1780.
Campbell County is bordered by Amherst County (north), Appomattox County (northeast), Charlotte County (east), Halifax County (southeast), Pittsylvania County (southwest), Bedford County (west).
