Linn County, Missouri (Map It) was created on January 6, 1837 from Chariton County. The county was named in honor of Lewis F. Linn (1796-1843), a Jacksonian Democratic U.S. Senator for Missouri.

Linn County is bordered by Sullivan County (north), Adair County (northeast), Macon County (east), Chariton County (south), Livingston County (west), Grundy County (northwest).

The Linn County Courthouse is located in Linneus, Missouri. The Clerk's Office DOES NOT DO RESEARCH. Most staff will assist people in finding the materials, but it is up to the individual to do the research.
