Linn County, Missouri (Map It) was created on January 6, 1837 from Chariton County. The county was named in honor of Lewis F. Linn (1796-1843), a Jacksonian Democratic U.S. Senator for Missouri.
Linn County is bordered by Sullivan County (north), Adair County (northeast), Macon County (east), Chariton County (south), Livingston County (west), Grundy County (northwest).
