Fisher County, Texas (Map It) was created on August 21, 1876 from Jones County and Young Territory . This county was named for Samuel Rhoads Fisher (1794–1839), a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence and secretary of the Navy under the Republic of Texas .

Fisher County is bordered by Stonewall County (north), Jones County (east), Nolan County (south), Scurry County (west), Kent County (northwest).
