Camden County, North Carolina (Map It) was created on April 8, 1777 from Pasquotank County. This county was named for Charles Pratt, 1st Earl Camden (1714–1794), who opposed the taxation of the American colonists.
Camden County is bordered by City of Chesapeake, Virginia (north), Currituck County (northeast), Tyrrell County (southwest), Pasquotank County (southwest), Gates County (northwest), City of Suffolk, Virginia (northwest).
