Polk County, Nebraska (Map It) was created on January 26, 1856 from York County and Unorganized area of the Nebraska Territory. The county was named in honor of James Knox Polk, the eleventh president of the United States.
Polk County is bordered by Butler County (east), York County (south), Hamilton County (southwest), Merrick County (west), Platte County (north).
