Gosper County, Nebraska (Map It) was created on November 26, 1873 from Unorganized area of the Nebraska Territory. The county was named in honor of John J. Gosper, the secretary of state for Nebraska at the time of the county's formation.
Gosper County is bordered by Phelps County (east), Furnas County (south), Frontier County (west), Dawson County (north).
