Furnas County, Nebraska (Map It) was created on February 27, 1873 from Unorganized area of the Nebraska Territory. The county was named in honor of Robert Wilkinson Furnas, the third governor of Nebraska.
Furnas County is bordered by Harlan County (east), Norton County, Kansas (south), Decatur County, Kansas (southwest), Red_Willow County (west), Frontier County (northwest), Gosper County (north), Phelps County (northeast).
