Cassia County, Idaho (Map It) was created on February 20, 1879 from Owyhee County. Cassia County was named either for Cassia Creek or a member of the Mormon Battalion, James John Cazier.

Cassia County is bordered by Minidoka County (north), Blaine County (north), Power County (northeast), Oneida County (east), Box Elder County, Utah, Elko County, Nevada (southwest), Twin Falls County (west), Jerome County (northwest).
