Custer County, Colorado (Map It) was created on  March 9, 1877 from Fremont County. Custer County was named in honor of George Armstrong Custer, (1839 - 1876), the U.S. Army colonel defeated and killed at the Battle of Little Bighorn.
Custer County is bordered by Fremont County (north), Pueblo County (east), Huerfano County (west), Saguache County (west).
