Taylor County, West Virginia (Map It) was created on January 19, 1844 from portions of Barbour County, Harrison County and Marion County. The county was named in honor of Senator John Taylor (1750-1824), U.S. Senator (VA).
Taylor County is bordered by Monongalia County (north), Preston County (east), Barbour County (south), Harrison County (west), Marion County (northwest).
