Crawford County, Wisconsin (Map It) was created on October 26, 1818 from Unorganized Territory. The county was named in honor of William Harris Crawford (1772-1834), United States Senator from Georgia 1807-1813 and Secretary of the Treasury 1816-1825.

Crawford County is bordered by Vernon County (north), Richland County (east), Grant County (south), Clayton County, Iowa (southwest), Allamakee County, Iowa (west).
