Appomattox County, Virginia (Map It) was created in February 8, 1845 and was formed from parts of Buckingham County, Campbell County, Prince Edward County and Charlotte County, additional part of Campbell County added in 1858. Appomattox county was named for the Appomattox River.
Appomattox County is bordered by Nelson County (north), Buckingham County (northeast), Prince Edward County (southeast), Charlotte County (south), Campbell County (southwest), Amherst County (northwest).
