Kendall County, Texas (Map It) was created on January 10, 1862 from Kerr County and Blanco County. This county was named for George Wilkins Kendall, an early journalist and sheep rancher who gained national fame as a war correspondent during the Mexican-American War.

Kendall County is bordered by Gillespie County (north), Blanco County (northeast), Comal County (southeast), Bexar County (south), Bandera County (southwest), Kerr County (west).
