Idaho County, Idaho (Map It) was created on February 4, 1864 as an Original County. Idaho County was named for the Columbia River steamship Idaho launched in 1860. Name predates both Idaho Territory and the State of Idaho.
Idaho County is bordered by Clearwater County (north), Missoula County, Montana (northeast), Ravalli County, Montana (east), Lemhi County, Valley County (south), Adams County (southwest), Wallowa County, Oregon (west), Nez Perce County (northwest), Lewis County (northwest).
