Bent County, Colorado (Map It) was created on February 6, 1874 from Huerfano County and former Cheyenne and Arapaho tribal land. Bent County was named in honor of frontier trader William Bent.
Bent County is bordered by  Kiowa County (north), Prowers County (east), Baca County (southeast), Las-Animas County (southwest), Otero County (west).
