Upshur County, Texas (Map It) was created on April 27, 1846 from Harrison County and Nacogdoches County. This county was named for Abel Parker Upshur, the fifteenth secretary of state of the United States (1843–1844) .
Upshur County is bordered by Camp County (north), Morris County (northeast), Marion County (east), Harrison County (southeast), Gregg County (south), Smith County (southwest), Wood County (west).

- Upshur County Clerk has Birth & Death Records from 1903, Marriage Records from 1846, Land Records from 1846, Probate Records from 1846 and Court Records from 1846. The County Clerk's office is the place where all transactions having to do with land are recorded and kept on file.
