Taylor County, Wisconsin (Map It) was created on March 4, 1875 from Chippewa County, Clark County, Lincoln County and Marathon County. The county was named in honor of William Robert Taylor (1820-1909), Governor of Wisconsin 1874-1876.

Taylor County is bordered by Price County (north), Lincoln County (east), Marathon County (southeast), Clark County (south), Chippewa County (west), Rusk County (northwest).
