Lunenburg County, Virginia (Map It) was created in April 01, 1746 from Brunswick County, Part of Charlotte County was added in 1777. Lunenburg county was named for the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg, from which the current line of British monarchs hailed.
Lunenburg County is bordered by Prince Edward County (north), Nottoway County (northeast), Brunswick County (east), Mecklenburg County (south), Charlotte County (west).
