Johnson County, Texas (Map It) was created on February 13, 1854 from McLennan County. This county was named for Middleton Tate Johnson, a Texas Ranger, soldier in the Mexican-American War, and senator for the Republic of Texas .

Johnson County is bordered by Tarrant County (north), Ellis County (east), Hill County (south), Bosque County (southwest), Somervell County (southwest), Hood County (west), Parker County (northwest).

• Johnson County Clerk has Birth & Death Records from 1860 for Birth; 1885 for death, Marriage Records from 1854, Land Records from 1854, Probate Records from 1854 and Court Records from 1852. The County Clerk's office is the place where all transactions having to do with land are recorded and kept on file.
