Clay County, Nebraska (Map It) was created on March 07, 1855 from Unorganized area of the Nebraska Territory. The county was named in honor of Henry Clay, the Senator from Kentucky, U.S. Secretary of State, and presidential candidate.

Clay County is bordered by Fillmore County  (east), Nuckolls County  (south), Adams County  (west), Hamilton County  (north).
