Red River County, Texas (Map It) was created on March 17, 1836 as one of the original 23 counties. The County was originally created on November 11, 1835 from Nacogdoches County, established as a municipality by Mexico. This county was named for the Red River of Texas .
Red River County is bordered by McCurtain County, Oklahoma (north), Bowie County (east), Morris County (southeast), Titus County (south), Franklin County (southwest), Lamar County (west), Choctaw County, Oklahoma (northwest).

- Red River County Clerk has Birth & Death Records from 1903, Marriage Records from 1846, Land Records from 1837, Probate Records from 1838 and Court Records from 1840. The County Clerk's office is the place where all transactions having to do with land are recorded and kept on file. They take marriage license applications, issues marriage licenses, files the license after the marriage, and maintains a permanent record of the marriage, surveys and plats of subdivisions, Armed Forces discharge papers for all veterans who reside in the county. Some naturalization records have been found with the deeds.
