Eddy County, New Mexico (Map It) was created on February 25, 1889 from Lincoln County. The county was named in honor of Charles Eddy, a rancher and developer of the area.

Eddy County is bordered by Otero County (west), Chaves County (north), Lea County (east), Loving County, Texas , Reeves County, Texas (south), Culberson County, Texas (south).
