Georgia County and City Government

Georgia contains 159 counties. Each county is the local level of government within its borders.

Under the Georgia State Constitution, all of its counties are granted home rule to deal with problems that are purely local in nature.

There are currently 6 consolidated county-cities in Georgia: Athens-Clarke County, Augusta-Richmond County, Columbus-Muscogee County, Cusseta-Chattahoochee County, Georgetown-Quitman County and Statenville-Echols County.

The links in the table below link to county and city government offices and is limited to government-maintained websites. If you know of a Georgia county that has an official government web site but is not linked, or if the link is in error, please contact us so we may edit our database. Georgia State Government is located in Atlanta.
