Kingsbury County, South Dakota (Map It) was created on January 08, 1873 from Hanson County. The county was named in honor of George W. Kingsbury and T.A. Kingsbury, brothers and territorial legislators.

Kingsbury County is bordered by Hamlin County (northeast), Brookings County (east), Lake County (southeast), Miner County (south), Beadle County (west), Clark County (northwest).
