Twiggs County, Georgia Records

Twiggs County, Georgia (Map It) was created on December 14, 1809 from Wilkinson County. Portion of Twiggs County was used to created Bibb County in 1822. Twiggs County was named in honor of General John Twiggs (1750 - 1816), a hero of the Revolutionary War and the Governor of Georgia.

Twiggs County is bordered by  Wilkinson County ( northeast), Laurens County (south), Bleckley County (south), Houston County (southwest), Bibb County (west), Jones County (northwest)
