Lamar County, Georgia (Map It) was created on August 17, 1920 from Monroe County and Pike County. The county was named in honor of Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar (1825 - 93), a U.S. Senator and an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
Lamar County is bordered by  Butts County (northeast), Monroe County (east), Upson County (southwest), Pike County (west), Spalding County (northwest)
