Dooly County, Georgia Records

Dooly County, Georgia (Map It) was created on May 15, 1821 from Creek Cession of 1821. Portions of Dooly County were used to create the following counties: Worth County (1853), Wilcox County (1857), Crisp County (1905), and Turner County (1905) . Dooly County was named in honor of Colonel John Dooly (1740 - 80), a hero of the American Revolution.

Dooly County is bordered by  Houston County (northeast), Pulaski County (east), Wilcox County (southeast), Crisp County (south), Sumter County (west), Macon County (northwest).
