Clinch County, Georgia Records
Clinch County, Georgia (Map It) was created on February 14, 1850 from Ware County and Lowndes County. Portions of Clinch County were used to create the following counties: Coffee County (1854), Echols County (1858), Atkinson County (1918), and Lanier County (1920) . Clinch County was named in honor of General Duncan Lamont Clinch (1784 - 1849), a hero of the War of 1812 and the Seminole War, and a U.S. Congressman.
Clinch County is bordered by  Atkinson County (north), Ware County (east), Columbia County, Florida (south), Echols County (southwest), Lanier County (west).

Clinch County, GA Courthouse
The Clinch County Courthouse is located in Homerville, Georgia. The first courthouse, built in 1852, burned in 1856. A new courthouse built in 1859 burned in 1867 destoying all records.
