Berrien County, Georgia Records

Berrien County, Georgia (Map It) was created on February 25, 1856 from Lowndes County, Irwin County and Coffee County. Portions or Berrien County were used to form Cook County (1918), Tift County (1905) and Lanier County (1920) . Berrien County was named in honor of John MacPherson Berrien (1781 - 1856), a U.S. Senator and the U.S. Attorney General.

Berrien County is bordered by  Irwin County (north), Coffee County (northeast), Atkinson County (east), Lanier County, Lowndes County (south), Cook County (west), Tift County (northwest)
