Harris County, Georgia (Map It) was created on December 14, 1827 from Muscogee County and Troup County. Harris County was named in honor of Charles Harris (1772 - 1827), a prominent attorney from Savannah.

Harris County is bordered by  Troup County (north), Meriwether County (northeast), Talbot County (east), Muscogee County (south), Lee County, Alabama (southwest), Chambers County, Alabama
