Bacon County, Georgia (Map It) was created on July 27, 1914 from Appling County, Pierce County and Ware County. Bacon County was named in honor of Augustus Octavius Bacon (1839 - 1914), a U.S. Senator (1895 - 1914) and President pro tempore of the United States Senate.

Bacon County is bordered by  Appling County (northeast), Pierce County (east), Ware County (south), Coffee County (west), Jeff Davis County (northwest).
