Hendry County, Florida (Map It) was created on May 11, 1923 from Lee County. Hendry County was named for Francis A. Hendry (1833–1917), early Floridian pioneer and politician.

Hendry County is bordered by Glades County (north), Martin County (northeast), Okeechobee County (northeast), Palm Beach County (east), Broward County (southeast), Collier County (south), Lee County (west), Charlotte County (west).
