Screven County, Georgia (Map It) was created on December 14, 1793 from Burke County and Effingham County. Screven County was named in honor of General James Screven (1744-1778), a hero of the Revolutionary War.
Screven County is bordered by  Allendale County, South Carolina (north), Hampton County, South Carolina (east), Effingham County (southwest), Bulloch County (southwest), Jenkins County (west), Burke County (northwest)

- Screven County Clerk of Superior Court has Land Records from 1794 and Court Records from 1811.
