DeKalb County, Georgia Records
DeKalb County, Georgia (Map It) was created on December 9, 1822 from Henry County, Gwinnett County, and Fayette County . Portions of DeKalb were used to create Campbell County (1828) and Cherokee County (1831) and were also transferred to the Coweta County (1826), Gwinnett County (1840), Milton (1859), and Rockdale County (1875). DeKalb County was named in honor of "Baron" Johann DeKalb (1721 - 80) a German who accompanied the Marquis de Lafayette and was inspector general of the Colonial Army.
DeKalb County is bordered by Gwinnett County (north), Rockdale County (east), Henry County (south), Clayton County (southwest), Fulton County (west)Â

- DeKalb County Clerk of Superior Court has Land Records from 1842 and Court Records from 1842. The County Clerk of Superior Court has jurisdiction over cases for title to land and equity, felony cases, adoptions, divorces, child support and custody enforcement.
