Denver City and County, Colorado (Map It) was created on November 15, 1902 from Arapahoe County . The original Arapahoe County Seat was split from Arapahoe County and reorganized as a consolidated city and county.. Denver City / County County was named in honor of James W. Denver, Governor of the Territory of Kansas from 1857 to 1859.
Denver County is bordered by Jefferson County (west), Adams County (northeast), Arapahoe County.
