Forrest County, Mississippi (Map It) was created on April 19, 1906 from Perry County. The county was named in honor of Nathan B. Forrest, Confederate general during the American Civil War.

Forrest County is bordered by Jones County (northeast), Perry County (east), Stone County (south), Pearl River County (southwest), Lamar County (west) and Covington County (northwest).
