Fulton County, Kentucky (Map It) was created on January 15, 1845 from Hickman County. The county was named in honor of Robert Fulton (1765–1815), inventor of the first commercially successful steamboat.
Fulton County is bordered by Mississippi County, Missouri (northwest), Hickman County (northeast), Obion County, Tennessee (south), Lake County, Tennessee (southwest), New Madrid County, Missouri (west).
